Marie, a local face and figure in the waves of Estero Bay.

She was my first surfing subject to photograph. I must have sent her a hundred photos, some good, a lot bad. She loved them all and let me know it.

She did not learn to surf until later, forty to be exact. Today, looking great! Taking waves and taking names.

Here she is riding her 9ft 2in Scott Anderson board, the “Farberow” model.

Marie is a dietitian doing palliative care at nearby French Hospital.
